About Us

The Club has a small four rink green, we play friendly matches both home and away against other Kent and Sussex clubs on most weekends during the season. Please see the fixtures page for more information.

The club has a team entered in the Tunbridge Wells men’s triples league which is played on a Thursday evening, when we come up against some of the strongest players in the county. We have also entered a ladies team in the Ladies Tunbridge Wells League which plays on Tuesday evenings.

As well as our fixtures we enjoy each other’s company at several club functions throughout the year including a pre-season enrolment evening, a Christmas dinner/presentation evening and a summer club competition.

We welcome new members, with or without experience.  We offer informal coaching for beginners on Tuesday evenings, when we are open for casual rolls ups. We also arrange for professional coaching from time to time from Kent Bowls Coaching.

After the summer outdoor season has ended, there are also local facilities for indoor and short mat bowls should you wish to continue with your game!

Our History

Speldhurst Bowls Club was founded in 1920 by Lord Dannatt who had a keen interest. It is believed that our very first game was against Groombridge.

The Bowls Green was originally to be found near the Cricket pitch in Rusthall village but was moved to the Speldhurst Recreation Ground where it has remained for nearly 100 years.

The club was to celebrate its Centenary in May 2020, however our celebrations have been postponed until 2021 as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
